Spend a day fishing on the Seto Inland Sea with a professional fisherman, then enjoy your catch at a cosy local restaurant with delicious local sake. This is an authentic regional leisure experience which many Japanese people would love to try at least once.
Who is this tour for?
This tour is for those who want a short but immersive experience of the lesser known attractions of Setouchi, with a focus on the gastronomy of the region, particularly its seafood and sake.
Meet your guide and Captain Yamamoto of the Shuhō Maru fishing boat. The captain will explain about the day's fishing and the art of fishing with a rod.
Lunch is aboard the fishing boat. Bring whatever you want to eat with you. Hot water is available for making cup noodles, tea, etc.
Return to port with your catch, and watch Chef Takahashi dispatch and fillet the fish. Take a tour of the port and see the cultivation of urchins and seaweed.
Walk to a nearby café in a traditional old house for a break. You can have a shower and change clothes if you like.
Drive to Restaurant Takahashi.
Enjoy a relaxed dinner at Restaurant Takahashi featuring the fish you caught with a variety of sake and beer. Dishes include assorted sashimi, grilled and fried fish, hot-pot, sushi, and soup. Sea urchin from Kotsubo Port is also available in season.

No. The boat is equipped with a fish radar, and the captain gives detailed instructions on how to catch the fish.
In the very unlikely event that you don’t catch anything, the captain will provide fish from his stock. Don’t worry, you won’t go hungry.
If you’re prone to motion sickness, probably. The boat moves about a lot, and the sea can be choppy. If in doubt, be sure to bring suitable medication. If you’re not prone to motion sickness, probably not.
